... road from us. Very interesting neighbours for the night!! I heard them head off in a rumble of hooves at about 2am, clearly running – I’d prefer not to think about what they were running away from. Bears have been here recently…

And that was our day’s excitement. After that, we read some more of our books and drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow, we’re back in the saddle, so that should be a rather more interesting read ...

This was an activity Desiree wanted to do from the day she saw it on the list !!

Picked up from the Resort early in the morning and it was a beautiful sunny day. Traveled up river to the point where the rafts were launched. Given the mandatory safety briefing and secured our life jackets. We boarded the raft (14 of us in each raft) and were cast off.

... front of the bus. I think he was scared we were going to take his lunch.
Then as we were on the big Bus going onto the glacier there was a family of mountain goats with 2 babies, the guide said they were only a couple of weeks old. They were very cute.
Then on the road to Jasper there were all these cars stopped and our driver said it had to be a bear jam!!!!!! and it was. So I have finally seen a bear up fairly close. These are black bears not grizzlies, but ...

1 night really

so for a 3 hour drive from RMH to Edson followed with 14 hours on site and then another 3 hour drive back to RMH. WOW talk about being tired. I was so tired I couldn't even eat!

once I got back to company I slept in the back of the MTC for 4 hours and then headed back to Calgary that evening.

Beauty as nature intended.

... On that day it was bitterly cold - the only such day in my week long stay - so I didn't go on a horseback trip around the lake that I had considered taking. It's funny how temperatures of -6 or less just don't seem as cold as equivalent temperatures back home though - I'm assuming because the air is dryer and has less of a chill factor. But that particular day my hands were blue despite wearing gloves. At this point I regretted not bringing my skiing glove ...
