We spent the day traveling being tourists for the day. We left San Salvador in the morning and traveled about 2 hours west to visit the Ataca coffee mill and do some touring and shopping. The coffee mill was very interesting and I know appreciate all the work that goes into a simple cup of coffee. I will never look at it the same way again.
We had a terrific lunch at the mill and after ...
... play soccer and basketball. It's really fun and it's a great way for us all to get out and be active. On Tuesday, one of my little host brothers, Melvin, was hurt really really badly while playing basketball...(he was being a little too aggressive)...but he fell, and dislocated his wrist bone and his elbow. I was completely convinced that he had broken his hand, because he couldn't move it initially, and his wrist bone had popped up into it. Once ...
San Salvador, San Salvador, El Salvador brookehoesli... a banana, (or a recent tasty discovery of peanut butter and banana sandwich,) but my family always eats “papusas” for breakfast, a Salvadoran specialty that is pretty much the same thing as a grilled cheese with tortillas in place of the bread. I still can't eat a cheese and bean papusa at 6:30 in the morning, but maybe I could by December! After dropping the kids off at school, Trini and I take the number 10 bus to Casa Esperanza, or Hope ...

This 30 year old bus that had both Daffy Duck and Jesus as its co-pilots delivered us in one piece to Suchitoto where time has stood still for hundreds of years except several lost years during the Civil War when it was a FLMN stronghold. This collection of white washed colonial style buildings with red tile ...

On the 7th we left for Antigua, Guatemala where we all releaxed and had a retreat to plan out how to best continue the ministry projects we have started and want to expand! I love this part of the trip because it's basically making a blue print of how to help the people we've met! I love it!
So, after three days in Guatemala, and after not doing much of anything except shopping, I came back to El Salvador last night! As soon as I ...

So macht baden fuer mich keinen ...
Playa El Tunco, El Salvador cristinita... bees nest. Our next stop was the ceremonial city of San Andres. This site includes Mayan pyramids as well as the ruins of Spanish indigo industry. Mario pointed out that the Maya and the Spanish followed essentially the same blueprint for their town centers: a large center plaza surrounded by religious and government buildings. Just another example of focusing on our similarities ...

San Salvador, El Salvador saphron234... on each of the children. They were so proud of having something to call there own. Not a hand me down, but a personal gift from us to them. Rustin and I stayed and played with the kids, reading them stories from their new books, playing with their new bouncy balls, and watching them run around in their new sneakers!! We walked away from there feeling warm in our hearts and happy in our heads. Our good deed was done for the day. It is very nice to ...
