... it, and I was afraid I'll not be able to walk (it was hot and I had difficulties in breathing), so I took the bus(only Chinese take the bus!). The others went behind the buildind, from it left side, and came by feet.
The place is magnificent: on a hill, gilded scupeltures etc.You have to climb many starirs, and I had to rest evry 20. 2 Chinese girls saw my difficulties, spoke to me, and didn't leave me until the top. I met the other 3 Israelis ...
Shangri-La, Yunnan, China rivkapi... I has wanted.

From shoudo hai we got a bus to the second lake (Bita hai). On the way we stopped at a field which was at best unspectacular at worst a waste of time. Bita hai was much prettyer and interesting, the lake meets grassland seemlessly but the graising yak seemed to now where and where not to go.

The title of this entry comes from a strange thing that happens at the lake every year, in spring spores from flowers on the surrounding ...

Baishuitai, Yunnan Province, China blummo... range of weapon shops! Knives, daggers and swords, all elaborately carved or chiselled, were on display. You can also get rifles and cross bows. Awesome. We didn't fancy the chances of (not injuring ourselves or getting pulled over by customs with) those in the bottom of Caragh's bag either... We did a lot of relaxing on several rooftop bars, enjoying the view over Shangri-La old town. Two favourites were: the Artist Space of ...

Shangri-La, Yunnan, China montgomeryr3... from Canada, on a 4 month Asia/SE Asia honeymoon tour. 2 1/2 hours and two 10 minute bathroom breaks later, we arrived in the tiny town of Qiaotou, the trailhead for those wanting to hike the upper gorge trail. The path meandered through peasant plots, vegetable terraces and picturesque villages before a perilous climb up to 2500 meters in 28 switchbacks and some of most spectacular views of Haba and Jade Dragon Snow Mountains. As for our own group of ...
Shangri-La, Yunnan, China tipperoonie... Shangri-las!The place is fantastic at first sight, but its impossible to say which part is still original and which part has been rebuilt by arriving Han Chinese who come here to overtake the business of the Tibetan people as it is the case in Lhasa. The 300 year old "Ganden Sumtseling Gompa" monastery is well worth a visit, and easy to reach with bus number 3 from the city ...
Shangri-La, Yunnan, China tom-of-boracay... 4th Chinese food festival to try some national delicacies including battered crab, black sweetcorn, stuffed Yorkshire puddings in the style of a calzone pizza, and rabbit head. You eat the meat of the side of the cranium then tear open their jaw to feast on the tongue and brain - it was pretty vile. The journey west from Chengdu took us through a spectacular green valley wide enough for a 1 lane road and a river. Throughout the journey we were flanked by ...
Zhongdian, China baileyandkerryGot back from our trek and showered and went straight to the Sexy Tractor...a foreign owned bar. We parked it there from about 7pm to 1am before moving on to Bar Street for some vodka and dancing. Anita enjoyed a "meat pulp pizza" as her after bar snack! so good. We had a great night chatting and drinking and really bonding as a group! HA! we were joined by Aussie Jeff who is stuck on ...
Lijang, China monita... only yeilded more brothels not a pub in the town, so back to the hostel for a pint. Walked for two days in the tiger leaping gourge. It really beutiful and the deepest in China, really deep. Slept in a guest house on the trail mid way and at the end so no roughing it necessary. The trail runs high above the tourist busses which crowd the lower route, on the second day we decended all the way to the river, which is really powerfull and impresive, kinda cool.
