... hide. I was soaked to the skin in about
a minute, the rain was torrential and the waves were crashing over the front of
the boat. For the first time in months I was shivering from the cold. The rain

... bank. (Russ, at this point you almost got a collect call from mom). It was probably 11:30 of so. Dad and I took off. It was hot. We went by the market twice and the fish was starting to stink and turns out the bank was a Lottery ticket office with an ATM. So back to mom we go (mind you it is hot and humid and mom has all of the drinking water in the back pack.) We get back to her about 11:50.

... day temperature of over 30 degrees. We have already been out for a morning stroll and a coffee and plan another foray this afternoon when it might be a bit cooler. The scenery is lovely with lots of palm trees and other exotic species and the locals seem friendly enough even though the Island looks relatively poor.
Next stop Auckland in about 1800 miles. Still haven’t seen a whale but did see a gull fly over the ship a few days ...
A tiny village was close to our lodgings, so it was easy to get some food and find restaurants. I found it a bit difficult to stay on a totally vegetarian diet, so I slipped a few times (but don't tell anyone, ok?!). But I stayed well away from chicken, which I have eaten maybe twice since mid-December.
