Today I visited Fort York, the British military base that was the basic foundation of what eventually became Toronto ... expanded to defend against the French, then against the Americans, and then captured by the latter and damaged during the War of 1812, and used as a military post right through to WW1 and just after.

... come every half hour so we jumped on one about 7pm. It felt like 3pm in the afternoon. Still not used to the sun going down so late especially because it hasn't been that sunny lately.

Tonight we decided on the lazy mans dinner - a restaurant in the lobby of the hotel. While waiting for our meal we watched a man walking his ferret on the street. Another strange pet to take for a walk, definitely not something you see everyday!

So after 2 very long flights including stop over in Dubai I then had to get from Pearson International Airport to Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto. Do ALWAYS check that connecting flights leave from the same airport. Caught 2 buses and a short ferry to get to my next and final flight on Porter airlines. Was an awesome small airline - highly recommended for Canadian domestic flights.

... the sun was going down... then temperature plummeted 15 degrees in a matter of hours. If there was a temperature drop like that in Australia there would be crazy storms... but not here... people just put on a few extra layers and the sky stays the same shade of grey as usual.
The markets were nice. It was an old little part of town which has been a distillery block for many years. First we went into a pen and sampled 6 ...

When we returned to the most relaxing cottage in the world the kids naturally kitted up in their togs and headed out to swim and kayak in the lake with a temperature of around 10 degrees!
