Lounging in a hammock Day 13

Lucky 13 I must not have done much... I did not make much of a notation.. other then that I lounged on the beach in the hammock and in the beach chair and then in the tent.

Day 14...........I finally figured out how to best row the boat... I have home made oars... I used stair well hand rails and plywood and second hand rusty carriage bolts...I came to the realization that if I sit on a 5 gallon pail situated just fore the companionway placed ...

... they make us feel so very much at home, and we enjoy our time with Kathy and Gary and the extended family.
On our last night (Labor Day night), we had the added excitement of a tornado warning just as we were all going to bed (Gary was asleep already!) - so we gathered down in the basement for a half hour - no harm, no foul!

... managed to sail alone on the jib sail with a quartering tailwind as we call it in aviation.... I traveled a good stretch then I anchored off shore with an onshore pleasant breeze.. hoping in my sleep that the anchor was holding... or up and down like a jack in the box to make sure I was not dragging anchor out into the front of some non seeing mammoth Barge... one thing in my short list is not to get to near them...as I later found out...

... a pinch salt we headed out to some bars. Everywhere appeared dead including the main drag of bars. Concerned about the crime rate we hid all our money and card in our shoe apart from a couple of bucks. Deciding that the bars aren't worth our time we ran back through the crime ridden streets to our highway motel. Emptying our shoes back at the motel we managed to tip $40 worth of notes in our ...

... hundreds of artifacts and then many out buildings that are representative of the old
structures found on a plantation or just in the 1800s in general. They are old buildings
that were moved from elsewhere. For example they have a mercantile, jail, slave
cabins, overseers house, Acadian house, Dog Trot House, Sugar Cane house. We
really enjoyed the museum and were glad we went.

Next we drove to New Orleans and stopped for lunch at Burger King on the way.
