... for decades who told me where to go to get the 14:1 rate (instead of the official 8.5:1 rate) but it was near the obelisk and it would have meant taking a cab there, finding it, getting back to H Stern before closing and still getting to the evening's activities. ... we stopped at the Missouri Welcome Center with a great looking playground. Guess the new thing in rest areas are playgrounds. Great for kids to unwind although not good for parents who really want to get back in the car and driving! Well, lunch in the car... sandwich and salad and grapes and apple! We decided to have St. Louis BBQ and the top TripAdvisor places either close early and if you don't get there early enough, they run out of food. ...

There is a museum inside, and it is free. The Lewis & Clark expedition museum, and the movie that they show is great. They have a store with St. Louis souvenirs and a candy shop. I've been to the observation area, but the little "pods" that you ride in on your way to the top of the arch are very small. They pack up ...

Got to St. Louis around noon and saw ther Big Arch in distance - found it - went to top after quite a walk up and down. Then went into its Museum whcih was very interesting. Chatted with National Park Service guide about our trip to Alaska etc all.
