David is a lovely host and the appartment we stayed in was huge. The bed was very comfy and we had plenty of room for our stuff and the air-con worked well. The kitchen was well kitted out and the use of the laundry was a huge bonus. It was a great start of Airbnb experience

... that would offer fresh langosta (lobster) and fish for dinner. Snorkeling was great with manta rays, turtles and thousands of fish.

After the relaxing part of the trip we needed to cross to Colombia. It meant 36 hours at sea at what is meant to be one of the worst crossings in the world. On the first day I had a lure out and managed to pull in a huge marlin. It would have been 140cm and maybe 15kg? Cooked it up that night and was delicious. We were lucky with the weather but ...

... were only $1.50 a tin!). We ended up staying a little later than expected, leaving at 3:30. The plan was to leave at 3, because the bus usually takes around 45 minutes, and I had class at 4:30. Little did we know about the monstrous problem known as Panamanian traffic. Do not ever, and I mean ever, take the bus between 4 and 6 pm. We left Cafe Te at around 3:30. At 6:15, after sitting on a stagnant bus for about 15 minutes, ...

We decided to do the 8hr trip to Panama City in one hit and a lovely local changed seats on the bus so Zoe & I could sit together. We arrived in the Old part of Panama city and it was absolutely pouring with rain a complete deluge, so we checked into a really cheap hostel, grabbed some food and went to bed. The old part of town is walled and protected from the sea by defences. This was to keep Sir Francis Drake and other English pirates away as ...

... back and we were all ready to get off the boat and out of the hot sun and wind. Our trip was a total of 6 hours approximately.

Stopped for a few groceries in the way back, then had dinner, a quick pinochle game, and a good nights sleep!

This morning has been nice and relaxing, Jim made a good breakfast of potatoes, peppers, chorizo, and onions. We enjoyed getting out in the waves again, then I took a shower, sat on the ...

... freaks and I am too old for all that zip lining, bungee jumping, climbing volcanoes! So I have become a part-time bird watcher and got up at 4 to go on a 4 hour flat walk looking for the little darlings. As usual with these things the tourist is up before the wildlife! Enjoyed it more than feared, but far too much walking for too little reward - saw 2 cute owls, toucans, colourful birds. We drove back down the hill to be reunited with the bus and drove ...
