Muitas Coisas

... had a really restless night. LOL. Today I went to one of the braiding stands and expected them to charge me heaps for fixing it, but instead they laughed and joked with me that I need to dance more gently, and fixed it for free. So lots to tell. I love my pousadas location. If I fall down the hill one way I hit SESC Bahia, Bale Folklorica and Dida and if I fall down it the other way I hit Ujamas place... too funny. Couldn't have picked it better. Also would ...

The First Port

... in perspective. I can't remember how large the dam was but this one damn completely powers the country of Paraguay and powers 75% or Brazil. I think we could learn a thing or two from the Brazilians.             After getting back to the ship last night the Igacu crew met up with all our other friends and headed out for our last night in Brazil. There had actually been quite a bit of security problems since we reached Salvador so most everyone was glad to be going ...

First Impressions

... warm and transparent. By now the sun was almost completely gone and the first stars start poking out of the sky and still the water is completely see-through. My boyfriend arrives, parks the bugre and jumps in too, even though it's already dark out. We just lay there swaying in the warm water listening to nothing but the sound of waves crashing and the stars quietly start to take over the sky and I conclude that this has got to be paradise.

Salvador de Bahia

... Salvador comes to life at night. The atmosphere is great. Live music everywhere, people dancing...people tring to sell you stuff constantly is not so much fun but they´re not persistant. The centre of the city is really beautiful and has been restored well...but the rest is very strange. It looks like a fiilm set of an abandoned city left ...

Morro -> Salvador

... 3 hours, and was better than the first one, even though it started raining when we got close to Salvador. When we got to Salvador we took the Lacerda elevator near the pier up to the historical center, where we searched for the Tourist Information. We reserved a pousada in Stella Marris (a neighbourhood somewhere in Salvador, which is "near" the airport) and needed to know how to get ...

2nd week, and Carnaval!!!

... people here have been very helpful and generally kind). The ´Senhor do Bonfim´ has a reputation for miraculous healing, so the main attraction for me was a little side room of the church, whose are covered with photos of people and messages of thanks. Hanging from the ceiling are wax or plastic replicas of the body parts that people want healed, absolutely any part lol! It´s slightly creepy at first, but interesting. Unfortunately there was not ...

Days 42-46 PARADISE! by ES and CS

... circled over the island, so I was able to get some great arial shots. For those of you unfamiliar with Fernando de Noronha, it's a small island (17 square km) off the cost of Brazil, known for being a haven for sea turtles and scuba divers alike. Only 450 tourists are allowed on the island at any given time to preserve the natural habitat. And because the drinking water is shipped to the island ...

Going Local

... up in the local shopping street, which was the real Salvador life. They sold ev**ything from clothes to TV's and furniture to baby chickens. We walked back up to Pelourinho (by this time it was dark) and sat on the t**race next to the drum mak** - making drums for the evening parade. Found a party on the steps down from the church and went to the Largo again for some caiparinha w**e we met a guy from France (who lived in Tilburg, Holland) and Greece. I cannot ...

Met up with Judy and Larry, the Americans from Tucson, Arizona, who we met the other night at Ze Maria and they joined us to show us some views they discovered yesterday - spectacular views of Lion Bayand Sueste and beyond. It was very hotso we called in at Pousada Maravilha for a drink - itlooks like a very nice place to ...

Fernando de Noronha deel 2

... visser thuis.
