... reminding you! I stopped off for a late breakfast. Of waffles. How American. There are lots of American people here - the menu seems to largely cater to them! They were good - even made with brown flour! I'm staying in a cabana - a traditional structure on stilts, steps away from the shoreline. It's very cute. Bright yellow and blue, with a mini kitchen and bathroom. I have a small balcony at the front with a lovely sea view. Love it! The rest of the day I spent ...

... Our snorkeling covered 3 separate places out on the reef which was just a 20 min boat ride off the coast of Caye Caulker. The highlight definatley had to be the second stop where we were surrounded with Nurse Sharks and Sting Rays. It took an awful lot of persuasion to get us in the water first off but once we did it was amazing to be swimming next to them. And gladly no shark bites or stings were incurred!

We also saw huge green moray eels, massive grey groupers and countless colourful fish species. All the dive shops on Belize were running two-tank dive trips daily to the local reef (US$125).

By night, we dined at cheap Caribbean grills where we ate local specialties including grilled lobster, jerk chicken, coconut beans and rice and all served with deliciously spicy habanero salsa!

Hurricane Janet in 1955 was particularly devastating for Belize City and Corozal, reducing Corozal to near rubble with winds of 175 mph.
