When we got to the Belize side, Craig greeted the border officials in Spanish but was abruptly told "Sir, we don't speak Spanish in Belize!". We filled in our cards, got stamped in for free and set off for the bus station to get our connection to Belize City. The tourist guy also tried to talk us out of going to Belize City and suggested somewhere further afield but we were set on getting to Caye Caulker first ...

We eventually arrived and found a cheap place to stay. Belize City is much smaller than the big cities in Guatemala but still has a bit of a bad reputation so we went out to see the centre before it got dark. There were a few nice old buildings and a harbour with boats and yachts ready to go out to the islands.
