... and the photo op takes precedence over any other sight-seers or passers by.
Rivers and rivulets dictated the Naxi village/town development. Each group of houses centres on a small square where there are often three pools; the first for drinking water, the second for vegetable preparation and the third for laundry. Life spills onto the pavements and there is a social aspect to scrubbing the veg or the clothes. To us a charming sight but also a ...

... it just needed more honey). After staying at Halfway house I hiked back to the Naxi family guesthouse where I stayed one more night. They currently have a resident monkey which they rescued from a fight with another monkey. He has some back or leg issues and the son assured me that they will release him in about 2 months after which time he should be healed. I could have stayed on the trail for another couple of days, it is relaxing ...
Lijiang, Yunnan, China grizzly... only coming up to Nathans chest!!!
Left her house & the alley was blocked by a large bull & cart. There was no way I was going past a bull but it was the only way out & say I ran past hoping he wouldn’t kick me. Wandered up into the small town square where some traditional naxi musicians would start playing when a ...

Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, China happysheep... waterwheel's, dogs, cats, and people. The town is full of shops selling the same thing but walking around in the ancient streets is such a pleasure you can't help but be charmed by the sweet slow pace. If you only have time to see one place in Yunnan, we recommend Lijiang. The New Town surrounds the old city - we also strolled around there for some errands - it's not too bad - clean - safe - hopping. We did two day trips to villages outside the ...
Lijiang, Yunnan, China oulous... one had a few dogs, and the prices ranged from 50 yuan to a a few thousand. But there were no collies. So I tried the second market, out of downtown. This seemed to be more of a purebred specialist market, and I found a shop with collie dogs. There were even some puppies. The prices were 600 yuan - less than US$100. There was even one with a damaged nose they were willing to sell to me for 300. I wasn't sure if it was OK, if it had ran into a wall like ...
Lijiang, China happysheep... usually had by all unless they are a complete dryballs. In short, life is good, and its going to stay that way for a least three years, things can ponly get better. Does anyone really read the kind of thing, if you have then you can have a free beer, I promise..... Lots of love, peace, happyness and those small lumps of furry stuff you find in your belly button from time to time (although probually not chinese people as hairy bellys arent really so common) to you all. John
Lijiang, China sexytractor... square, where aside of the impressive restored buildings of the old town (the city was partly demolished by a powerful earthquake in 1996, and by the end of the same year the whole city has been restored) we could see colourful and inviting stores with lots of goods to sell to the infinite number of tourists, mostly local, that visit Lijiang every day. I bought not many souvenirs, but a beautiful art picture and some tea blocks. If I had some more space in my ...
Lijiang, China gsella... nothing short of chinese tourist hell, with little or no supervision or guidance from staff. Firstly there was a push and pull of two hours outside of the "Bus Waiting Hall". The Chinese simply have no sense of the word queue. Its more "Far Queue" to their fellow tourists as the just push in. Those who know me well know that I simply can't tolerate this, so I was elbows up, pushing them back. I'm not sure if they are ignorant, stupid, or rude. A combination perhaps. They just ...
