... to toe, and I was completely overwhelmed with both what I'd just done and those incredible views of the beach that surrounded me, as we slowly made our way back down to solid ground. I'd done it! What an unbelievable experience. I can't work out if it was more amazing or more terrifying but judging my the video of my experience, I think I'd probably say it was the most terrifying thing I've ever done. Terrifying but awesome! So Surfers Paradise in itself was rather average in ...

... in eastern Australia, so naturally we had to get some of that.

Good start - we were set for snacks and dinner - now off to explore the town and walk on the beach. I have included some photos of restaurants in Byron, and streetscapes. The next day we were a little bit sore headed so went to chill on the beach. The weather was perfect, so lovely and sunny but with a nice sea breeze. There was a little market going on in the town which was full of hippies selling jewellery, doing ...

... brightly. We could barely believe our eyes the first bit of sun in days. We lay on the beach on our soggy wet coats as towels weren't even on our radar. We even had to apply suntan lotion due to the blazing hot sun. Incredible! There is sunshine in Byron Bay! We chilled out on the beach for a few hours then decided to take a walk along the main beach. It was a lovely surprise! The beach filled with people despite the signs people dived onto the roaring sea to cool down and take a ...

... beach and the green forests of NSW were amazing, I'd love to do it again. The landing was a lot softer then I expected and the rush you get when you have your feet on the ground and realise what you've just done (without dying) is absolutely incredible. Best thing I have ever done and well worth the 5am start! Whilst in Byron I met up with Pam who we met in Brisbane and Sophie from Cairns which was really good. Byron has a great laid back nightlife with loads of live bands and busy ...
