TravelPod's Snapshot

Looking for a laid back beach bungalow in Indonesia just steps from the ocean? Sama-Sama Bungalows offer guests a low-key retreat in lovely Lombok with all the essential amenities and services guests need for a relaxing beach getaway. The 11 uniquely decorated bungalows and beach huts are clustered around the lively Sama Sama Beer Garden, a breezy beach bar featuring eclectic live music each evening and into each night.

The Sama-Sama Bungalows are located on Gili Trawangan, fondly referred to as Gili T by locals and tourists, the most cosmopolitan of the Gili Islands. There is a lively bar and restaurant scene that perfectly complements the lazy languor of long days at the beach. Boats are available to ferry guests across the Lombok Straight to Bali. The Sama-Sama Bungalows are near the island's main thoroughfare, notable for its horse carts, bikes, and bikini-clad tourists. Guest reviews frequently mention the property's superb location.

The Sama-Sama Bungalows feature free Wi-Fi throughout the property; visitors recommend asking for several passwords upon check-in, since each password is good for two hours of WiFi service. Guest reviews mention that the hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating with password requests. The property offers an on-site restaurant, and room service is also available.

The beach bungalows are furnished in whimsical island style; some feature a second-floor balcony or charming open terrace. Each of the beach huts has a spacious bathroom with shower stall; guest reviews point out that hot water is plentiful. The bungalows are equipped with large TVs with DVD players. Non-smoking rooms are available, too.

The Sama-Sama Bungalows offer guests a lovely tropical garden, comfortable and attractive accommodations, and an ideal location for exploring the sands, surf, and nightlife of Gili T. The beer garden and animated reggae music add to this charming property's island allure.

        ... to trek bare foot!
We crept past cattle, walked through savannah grassland, with gentle ups and downs gradually making our way to POS I – the first check point on the Rinjani trail at 1,300m. We stopped for a quick breather then continued on to POS II. The pathway was beginning to incline and become rockier and even dustier. As we arrived at POS II (1,500m), it was difficult to see the ground with the amount of other trekkers and litter! Danil led us through the ...

The wifi wasn’t working, naturally, so we went back to our room. I attempted to org anise our photographs from the last week and Edd had a nap; I had just started to blog when I decided I was pretty tired as well, so joined him instead.

... we spent two very sweaty hours what can only he described as snorkelling from the boat. We crashed only once and narrowly avoided running some real snorkellers over in a desperate attempt to spot the turtle they had kindly alerted us to. We caught a glimpse of the little guy as he swam under the boat but sadly weren't quick enough to capture the moment on film. Having packed for this trip with a New Zealand winter in mind we didn't have ...

... as water seeped into my masked i panicked and asked to get back on the boat. Whilst I was only in for about 3 minutes it was a big achievement for me! Later on in the evening we then went to one the locals restaurants. A lady called Ruby was running the show, pretty much alone. The food was amazing I had chicken satay for a mere 35 IDR (about £2.50). Whilst the restaurant may not look swanky sometimes it's the hidden ones which are the ...

Well as it turns out, its not a brilliant sunset like last night, too much cloud, but we sit on the newly built wall and chat to 2 beach sellers who tell us about the traditional Lombok story cloth. 2 bedroom house, the hut in the rice paddies and a chicken and a gecko. I had asked for a table runner, they produce this cloth and it is quite lovely and hand ...
