... It is close to the port from were I will take tonight the ferry to Okinawa.

This will be a 25 hour trip, after which I will soon after meet my wife Elisabeth again, who will fly in from Australia!

... t seem to fancy.

We felt very privileged and were treated very well in the ryokans, I'll miss Japan.

We also enjoyed the 7 samurai home village, with bonsai and the intriguing kanakasi airplane fighters museum with photos of all of them. They looked so young and an old man giving a talk about it, still a lot of interest, after all these decades. No photos allowed.

... took 2 hours to get to Tsuwano. Poor Takako had to mind our luggage at Shin-Yamaguchi until 5.30pm. She did say that she had a lot of computer work to get through but 8 hours sitting by yourself at the train station is an awfully long time.

The cabin was old fashioned but we had the fanciest one in the train. We had a table for four with seats on either side of the table. A little squishy but not bad. The last carriage was almost ...

Only one night in Hiroshima at a hotel right near the station The Sheraton a fabulous hotel very western and big rooms.


Our first stop was a walk thru the Peace Park which everyone should do including the politicians. Leith and I have done it twice so we went by ourselves to the Shukkeien Gardens.

Don't take your eyes off the volcano

... 1 hour small loop taking in a good viewing point for the volcano but standing in the line and watching them cram people onto this bus like sardines makes us rethink, plus talking to other people waiting in line who are doing the 2 hour full island loop, we are convinced that this will be a much more comfortable way to go. The bus arrives and it's only about 3/4 full so that's excellent, well worth the extra cost because we have a seat and we will not end up squashed and ...
