... and some very picturesque views. The villages are still lived in but I'm not sure I would want to live in them - very dank and dingy dwellings. By bus the next day to Little Likeng. Much more commercial than the previous villages - stalls selling the same old stuff in every alleyway. But a cute village ( still wouldn't want to live there though). Lots of cottage industry (making the wooden souvenirs ); people doing their washing in the stream flowing through the ...

... The original tower was built in AD 223 but the one I saw was a reconstruction - built in 1980. It has actually been reconstructed many times so who knows if it still resembles the original. Looked good though. The magical dancing crane, immortalised in the poetry of Cui Hao, has long since flown though. Passed by a couple of temples on my ...

... more on that later. We then headed up to famous site in China called the Yellow Crane Tower. it is quite amazing, built on a small hill overlooking the Yantze river. Many poems have been written about it, and my favourite moment of the day was when we stopped for tea in a teahouse overlooking the tower and the river and my friend taught me one of the most famous poems written about the tower, about saying good bye to some friends leaving on a boat in a ...

    Surprise, surprise, another cloudy misty
day with intermittent rain! We left the hotel after breakfast and went to a
different airport which allowed us to see even more of the city on our way out.
The airport was very new, quite large and filled with duty free shops. Our
flight left on time at 10:30 and we arrived in Wuhan at 12:30 to more rainy
skies. The plane was quite new and we even got a hot lunch! We picked ...
