In the town of Hermanus, a coastal tourist town, we found a stone bench in a busy esplanade area to set up our picnic lunch. The amazed faces of the locals were really entertaining. We rather expected some of them to come and order a sandwich! Lunch was interrupted by the hosting of a ...

Observations I have noticed so far include things like how cheap everything is - a night of going out will cost you about 150 rands, or $15, which can be dangerous - the fact that there are no water fountains any where, they call "coffee" "americano," and I have not seen anybody walk and eat at the same time.

So far our program has taken us to see Cape Town for a day but there are more excursions to come so keep reading.
