Our train companions were all backpack foreigners, ...

... got knocked out by him trying to take a photo! Throughout the day we got to feed them and in the afternoon got to wash them in the river. The elephants were happily munching on their food while we threw buckets of water over them, it really was a great experience. At the park we met a really nice teacher from London on her summer holiday so we all went out for dinner in Chiang Mai. On one of her school trips she took 26 pupils to India, ...

... local to accompany us back to our guesthouse. The staff assured us that the dogs don't bite but it is hard to keep that in mind when four or five of them are circling round you and barking in what feels like an aggressive manor. However it was quite amusing when one of the staff S'man mimed out what we should do to discourage the dogs with props including an umbrella and golf club and even escorted us on his bicycle down the lane so that we felt safe. Stray dogs are a fact ...
