... about 6 passengers and have a small motor also on the river. These rafts may be privately owned but all of the bookings and ticketing is controlled by the government. Along the shoreline some of the people from the local village have set up stalls to sell souvenirs and handicrafts to the tourists. ... are a grouping of long bamboo pokes strapped together and two metal chairs tied on top with a place for a large umbrella. The raft is propelled by on oarsman with a long bamboo pole. We carefully boarded (without falling in) and began our 1 1/2 hour quiet, peaceful float through the countryside and beautiful karst peaks. It was a respite from crowds and cars.
