... could not find one. Frustrated we headed back to Yangshuo on our local bus. We later found out that the fan market is down one deserted street and across a small ferry, where there are several fancy fan stores. sigh. oh well.

... br> We get dropped off in Pingyan and go for a 5 hour hike to Dazhai. In Pingyan we think we can follow the signs; but after an hour we are still in the little village and decide to take a guide. Our hotel is a little way out of the town - about 30 minutes walk and is set on a hillside looking over the river and the karsts - I don’t think we have stayed in many more scenic locations.
