At times, powerful spotlights were used to illuminate the towering mountains surrounding the river while on other occasions the performers wore lights on their costumes that shimmered and glittered to create a magical effect. ... the raft, really that as a once in a lifetime experience, I don't think des dreamt of ever doing such a thing. We're dressed in thermals today, high 20s to 5 degrees is hard...the cycling kept us warm but we're cold now after floating down the river for 2 hours. almost half way down the route now thanks to the rafts, only 4.5km to go. We cycle pretty fast to warm up, passing some other western tourists, plenty of chinese on tandems and others shouting "Hallo, hallo". ...

... airport by our hostel and taken to Yangshou where we were to spend the next 4 days. Yangshou has amazing scenery, lots of karst limestone peaks everywhere you look, however it is very touristy in the centre of town (West Street). The first day we rented some mountain bikes from the hostel and headed to Moon Hill via Dragon Bridge.
