Palaces And Tombs In Marrakesh, Morocco

... at 2am tomorrow! Fortunately, (1) we now have confirmed accommodations in Fez, and a driver from the Riad Dar Dmana will be there to pick us up at that early (late!) hour. (PS – a riad is a guesthouse with great Moroccan hospitality!) And (2), I am typing this journal entry happily ensconced in a 1st class train cabin, which is clean, does not smell, and (blissfully) is blowing cold A/C on us. We have learned from our past mistakes, you see.

... 8220;Crowded House,” “Duran Duran,” and other great 80s hits. (Maybe I should leave, rather than take, his input, eh?) Anyway. We stayed at dinner so late that when we arrived at Café du Livres, they were just closing down, so we’ve decided to go there for breakfast instead. Hopefully, the last several journal entries will be uploaded by tomorrow morning! Again, my apologies for uploading the entries in “clumps”, but Internet access is what it is...!]

... small souveneirs from indonesia that I thought would be perfect. But then, he asked for my shoes! I explained to him that I could not part with me shoes because I needed them to continue travelling and buying new shoes would be very expensive. He acted very offended, I insisted on giving him a little necklace from indonesia and taking nothing in return. I feel kind of bad for not giving him my shoes, maybe he really needed them, but i need them too...

Marrakech - Day 2

... a great idea built a palace about 20 minutes out of town and turned it into a restaurant. You eat in tents that are spectacularly decorated. But prior to dinner you can walk around and look at all the costumed singers and musicians that line the large walkway. The whole night is a reenactment of Berber life. Berbers are the original Moroccans and they now live in the Atlas mountains. After dinner you ...
