... lunch, well I had a fruit salad – trying to be healthy
and trim that damn Croatia doughy waistline.
More walking
around in the afternoon followed by a siesta.
Milli and I went
to watch the sunset and have a soft drink in one of the rooftop terraces,
watching the tourists dodge the snake charmers who seem very quick to put a snake
around your shoulders so you can get a photo taken, a prospect that didn’t
exactly overwhelm me with joy ...
From the fun flats of Marrakech...we made our way to the High Atlas mountains for well...mountains of magnificent hiking and views.
Jebel Toubkal stands at 4200m above sea level and at that is the highest most point in northern Africa and also a bit of a mission! We made it up the mighty mountain in a few days and did some sleeping, sun burning and Scrabble in there as well. An absolutely incredible adventure!
Back down and all set to embark on a road trip to Fez!

After immense Irish experiences and an interesting and equally incredible adventure in Italy i arrived in Morocco having met both big brother Jage and eventually Stewart in Milan...
We made our way to the mad, mixed and amazing Marrakech with a few friends we found along the way and ended up in the midst of Ramadan at a funky guesthouse hidden away in the ...
... day. Our in-house fellow, a real nice Arabic guy named Abdu who speaks decent English and better French (this was a French colony until 1956) kind of invited himself along (fine by me). Our driver, Mustafa, was nice too but not yacky. That’s also fine; concentrate on the road. The journey I’d selected when I made the reservations was a daytrip into the High Atlas Mountains to a 4,000 meter elevation. Long & ...
Marrakesh, Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, Morocco thedicksons... in Marrakech. It's all just part of the experience. I don't think I ever found anything on the first try. But it was all right in the end, each time. And when it all became too much to handle I would just come back to the riad and relax. I would sit on the rooftop terrace and write in my journal, and it was quiet... the most important thing.
I can't say enough good things about the staff there too. Kamal and Hakim and Tim were ...
Marrakech is an incredible city. It has a huge walled city centre, the walls are 16 km long and still intact, and if you enter through one of the gates, the world is not like it used to be. People come dressed like in those movies about when Jesus was born, so I think it is a very adequate place to spend the week before Christmas. I wonder anyway how snow and Santa on a sledge came into the picture when the whole story ...
Marrakech, Morocco sabaidii... shorts (stupid), me concentrating on keeping Lauren in front of me, and a lot of aggressive Moroccans causing a skirmish which was thus causing the crowd, our camera was taken out of my pocket. Although I didn't see the person who took it, I knew it was happening...it was just that sort of scene. I was focused on Lauren and our passports, so wasn't overly concerned with the camera at this point. The situation never seemed dangerous ...
passamos. Momentos difíceis. Momentos divertidos, muitos momentos muito
divertidos, alias a maior parte deles.
Um pais com uma cor fantástica, com uma cultura estranha, mas muito viva e marcada, resumindo um pais que me fascinou.

... Express. I followed them to platforms 3 & 4, where I found a smaller printed 8x11 signs telling me to go instead to platforms 7 & 8. I did, and boarded the train with ten minutes to spare. So now here I am, situated in one of these lovely face to face seating arrangements, writing down adventure #1 while the (Russian?) man across from me stretches and yawns. (Can't blame him, it's about 6am.) Already it seems to me that the Express isn't quite like a real train. For ...
