Day 10: Florence
We started the day with a major bummer: Bradley left for home bright and early, which makes me really sad. I miss him already and I'm jealous that he gets to see our pooch and smoosh his little Louie face. There are a ton of dogs in Europe, by the way, and people bring them everywhere with them. We have FaceTimed with Lou a couple times to make us (me) feel better... but I digress. Anyway, I miss my husband a lot. Today's drizzly, cold weather matched the gloominess of Bradley's ...
Day 9: Florence
Today was a full walking day around Florence. The crowds here are worse than they've been anywhere so far, but it may be because it was a beautiful Sunday and it's a small city, so it feels more cramped. We started off by walking to the Duomo, which is the domed focal point of the city, with a tower, cathedral and baptistery. "And what after Rome? Croatia! What are you doing there? I've been there few times - you go to Dubrovnik? So much of Croatian culture isn't its own - much, including Dubrovnik, was cultured by Venetians. Adriatic people. Like how the east coast of Turkey has a culture belonging to ...
Last Day in Florence, Two great "Small Museums"
... lot). The only redemption for this whole area in front of S Frediano is the fact that it is on the river, right at the spot where there are waterfalls (of sorts), children sunbathing and taking a cool dip, the stunning view of the Piazza Ognissanti across the river, and a lovely bridge, Amerigo Vespucci, wafted (anyone ever use this word ? is it a word ?) with cool breezes every so often. Incidentally as I have said many times Amerigo (of the famous and ...
