... We thought it would be easier to go via Naples... We were wrong. Sorrento is a better base. The ruins are... ruins. After seeing Ostia Antica and Palantine Hill, they weren't that different, other than being in the shadow of Vesuvius. Most of the really cool artifacts were carted off the Naples ( the National Archeological Museum is the only good reason to go to Naples). We went to go to Pompei, but we would go to Herculaneum next ...

... the swirling currents and new driver, we hooked a left and followed the coast along the "sole of the boot" until we hit a bay several hours later and lost site of land.
