... off nice and early to make the most of our day. We had walked down to where we are moored on our previous trip, but the day couldn't be any more different. The huge road works still surround the Castel Nuovo making it difficult to get around this part of town, but whereas before the streets were deserted and the shops shut (we think it may have been a Sunday) today the streets are alive with traffic and people and we like it a lot. ... diners, ordered our meal and enjoyed the view and the quiet. For about 30 minutes. Then a soccer game came on the big TVs (which we had not noticed earlier), and within minutes the place filled with loud, avid fans. Shirley was one of four women in the restaurant. Was kinda fun for a little while to be among the locals. Even the children came in and were seated in a separate area near the bar. When we left Naples was beating Genoa 2-0.

... people rude and arrogant. Castellamare , the town, seemed much nicer and more of the real Italian people there.

Today we are waiting for a weather window to get out and across the Golf of Salerno to Maretea a passage of 80nm. At the moment it is blowing a hooley outside with gusts of 38knots. I’m refusing to move until it calms down to at least 18knots as it is going to be an overnight crossing…not my favourite thing to do but I do see the reason. ...
