Well, it rained on and off all night and again in the morning. The forecast was for rain/showers for the next few days. We put off our cycle ride/picnic, hoping that it would clear up. ... TO is not in the middle of town, and when we did eventually find it, it had moved, to a site even further out and closed at noon.. Guess what time it was by then ? - 12.10pm!

When we arrived at La Fleche we settled in and went for a nice stroll by the river after dinner.
There were lots of British vintage TR4's, MG's and other sports cars at the campsite. - some carefully loaded in enclosed trailers.
It is quite near to Le Mans and they go there for track days.

... Perfect. It was a two and a half hour easy drive to Nice. Nowhere near as much traffic on the roads as when we headed south from Lyon. Note to self, don't drive on Saturdays, especially on long weekends. The 130km speed limit was a breeze (literally) and other drivers much better behaved. We only stopped at a road side stop area for a feed and a coffee. We've worked out they have two different types. One that has petrol, restaurants and all sorts ...

Last time The South of France beckoned was in 2005 we drove through Monaco. Well actually , Ray drove through Monaco!' If I remember rightly, there were roadworks everywhere & it took us ages to get from point A to point B which was quite stressful for my dear hubby. Ray pulled over at a vantage point high on a precipice & told us we had 5 mins to take photos because we had to be at our destination ( Porto Venere) in Italy by a certain time.
