Tomorrow I am out operationally here with a visit to the ESR here in Christchurch

As an aside folks, Christchurch is like stepping into England - the architecture, the birds, the whole feel of the place. Today as I walked to the station, I had the feeling I was walking through Cambridge City centre. How surreal was that?? It is truly beautiful - a little slice of England in NZ.

The staff gave us a picture book of NZ on our return for having to return our old van early. A lovely gesture and worthy of a recommendation for 'United (Alpha) Campervan Rentals' of NZ.

The flight out went to plan and as we flew high over the island and over the mountainous western side we looked down, grateful for fond memories of a wonderful time spent in a most spectacular country.

... blink and you miss it little town called Barrytown. We stopped there because our bus took over the hostel and had a fancy dress party. boys dressed as girls and girls as boys. Such a good night. Laura and i managed to drag ourselves out of bed the following morning to go bone carving. We made our own mauri sign necklaces. I didn't know i was so creative!!! It was one way to cure a hangover.

... New Zealand has lots of glaciers. The train went through the Southern Alps and crossed them at Arthurs Pass. We went past lots of mountain sheep stations, waterfalls, rivers, and mountains. It was a pretty bumpy but a nice ride. Now we are in Christchurch and ready for some Kia (Maori for food)!
