Up early again and off to the ferry that would take us from Laos to Thailand. First Day in Chiang Mai
... Lanna Kingdom. The majority of the structure still remains despite an earthquake in 1545 which destroyed the top tiers of the temple. The temple was also once surrounded by large stone elephants, though now only a few remain. They cast large shadows on the temple walls behind them which looked hauntingly beautiful in the moonlight.
