      ... Year's.
Christmas was a quiet affair – with locally caught trout, salad,
and four man chess (I won!). In typical New Year Eve fashion, the
other American intern and myself headed to the staff bar to welcome
2014 in with the field guides and other Mabula employees. As a
birthday present to myself, I am headed to Cape Town in two weeks to
meet friends of our wonderful family-friends, Dan and Toni. I love
connections like this and I'm so excited to spend ...

... In the afternoon we went up to Blyde Canyon DAM , with it Lake and beautiful surroundings. The Weather did not cooperate and it was cool and windy and stated raining , so we went for only a short hike down to the Shore and back up to the Parking lot where we feed some Monkeys. This was not something I was happy about because my broken wrist caned during and afterwards. Thank god for the brace though! ...

Sightings: Kudu, Baboons, Ostrich, Red Hartebeest

Another week gone at Enkosini. It's interesting how some weeks you’re right into things and the next you just feel like a total blob and end up having a lazy week. Admittedly it didn’t help that 3 days of activities were things I couldn’t help much in because of my wrist. (A full day of walking then a camp I knew would throw it out and make it throb ...

... few days though - not happy jan in that week!)
We've seen our regular managery of animals being the kudu, red hartebeest, ostrich and baboons and I've even started becoming friendly with the horses which normally isn't much but everyone classes these horses as tame but wild so for me to have patted the one with with the floppy ear (Roachie??) is a big step. One who has chestnut skin and black curly hair is buddy buddy with me which is quite nice. And as we speak the lone giraffe ...
