We get to the Pier and the batting cages and there is a sign telling us that you need closed shoes to go into the cages to bat. Boo!!! We are all wearing thongs / flip flops. Dreams shattered, we head over to the bowling alley instead.

We actually caught it from Grand Central Station so we had spent a bit of time admiring the building before getting into the dingy train.
