In the morning we met Juanjo again on the road and we decided to ride the day together. First on a paved ruta 40, then on a section, where the map stated "ruta en muy mal estado" (road in very bad condition). It was. We arrived quite late in Malargue and decided to stay there overnight. We rode to the next major town of Malargue, picked up a set of spare tubes at a motorcycle shop along with a bicycle pump (we were determined not to be without air again) and proceeded on to find someplace to camp for the night. We rode to the town of El Sosneado, which is nothing more than a few buildings at a ...

... the time we had the wheel off of the bike. We connected the tire to the spare from one of the young couple's cars, confident that we'd be on our way in minutes... only to find that it wouldn't hold air. This time what we discovered when we pulled the tube is that in our rush we'd managed to pinch it while we were mounting the tire. At this point we bid the two young couples 'buen viaje' and dove into patching the tube and waiting for the next unsuspecting passerby ...
