Overall, I just couldn't recommend Margarita though, not until something drastic changes like direct flights are back, or the mindset of the locals becomes more community and less 'me' focused. There's too much corruption - we know of at least one local with dodgy money dealing via the army - and an undercurrent that is palpable.

The castle in Asunsion. and the palace like church were the highlights of that day. It was good to see how the real islanders lived. If you ever go to this island, Margarita, you´ll see at least 20 stray , or not so stray, but harmless dogs walking freely on the streets, and beaches. Very random.
