Worth every cent of my $15/night

First of all, yes, the view IS popular. Try to book a room with a view. I suppose there are 9 of them. It's really breathtaking because unlike Domon Guesthouse or any others along the same street, this one doesn't have any construction of disturbing distractions outside your balcony. And it's quite away from the Rocket Bar so it's not noisy at all!!

Everything in the room was clean. Superb. The bed was comfy and the aircon worked alright. Only the TV had a slight problem because there was no interesting English channel. But hey, with all the partying nobody has time to watch TV. The bathroom had the, in my opinion, purest cool water you can ever get and you feel like taking a shower every now and then.

The reception/owner Mr. Vieng is OK, friendly but can be a bit "blur" at times.

The complimentary breakfast consists of baguette, omelette/fried egg, and coffee/tea. In my opinion it was a little too oily but that's just how they cook it. The coffee/tea is free all the time. And they provide mineral water dispenser too. Get a bottle and you'll save thousands (of kips).

You can't get internet in the bedrooms. The common area has books that you can read. The surrounding shops are good/ok as well. All you need is just a few seconds walking distance. ;) I was alone and although I didn't meet anyone, I had the most incredible Me-Time in Vang Vieng. :)

Super close to all the bars & all the tubing you would want to do - plus, the rooms are actually quite nice! I would definitely recommend it to anyone heading there!

... a touristy day in Hanoi spent visiting the Hanoi 'Hilton' Prison we flew to Luang Prabang, Laos. Here we were greeted with thunderstorms, and we were able to give our rain macs a run out, braving the weather as we were all hank. As we were sprinting through the rain, we heard a shout from a running yatt (who we thought was just sharing a cab with us to the hostel) asking to join us for lunch! We thought there was no harm, but have now ...

... go for a wander at 9am and all you will see are a myriad of bars, restaurants and cafe's that are screen Friends non-stop, all day long. A little bizarre, and a tad surreal but that's how it goes in Vang Vieng. So that's what we did and spent a couple of days relaxing and laughing.

By the third day we needed to get out and about and explore what was around so we rented a motorbike for the day and headed off into the wilderness around us, and what wilderness ...

... rocks and been collecting mushrooms and other wild vegetables on the way which were then pushed into a long piece of bamboo and put on the fire. The food was then served up onto fresh bamboo split in half on bamboo leaves, the food was insane and to think it was all picked as we walked there. After the food someone spotted a snake near the water and as everyone observed, capitan had through a rock from 10 meters away and split the snake in 2. ...
