Today we visited the UNESCO town of Telc. Pronounced Telch like belch. Un untouched 16th. century town.
Had a limited castle tour as they are filming the movie "Emperor". Barbara auditioned for a solo and got the part!! Only problem, we can't be here for the rest of the filming.

We arrived back in town, had lunch, and went to find the synagogue in town. The building was open, so we went in, and found a lovey sanctuary and a little museum which gave the history of the family who started the synagogue. The museum was small, but very engaging and informative. Now the building is used for concerts.
Next up was a raft trip down the river. There were three weirs on the route, and each one had a special chute for rafts and kayaks. I was in the front of the raft and so had the best view and got the most splash at the bottom of the chute. The rest of the ride was smooth and pleasant, giving us new views of the castle and town. On our way we were able to look through some small windows down into the bears enclosure form the opposite side. We spotted a bear being fed and poking his snout out through the bars of his undercover area. It seems it was too cold for him to be out and about today. Quite extraordinary though to visit a castle with real bears in its moat. The stairs to the top of the tower were very old ...
