        ... didn't rise, then, just as bike dismantling was about done, pitter patter of rain started and a mad rush to get stuff packed in the boot. The nice dry awning is now wet again and we're hoping the rain stops overnight to dry it out. Another 30 mins or so and everything would have been packed away nice and dry. 8.30 pm and it's still raining steadily..... We have also had a power cut this evening and did consider cooking the dinner on Gill's red, hot swollen ...

        ... be a little concerned about whether they complied with safety standards. A quick stop at Tesco for an ice cream to cool us down and more water as even Captain Tone was feeling dehydrated in today's high temperatures. We set off homeward but after just a few kilometres as we were descending at speed into a pretty village on a lake, Stoker (Gill) collided with a very large bug! "Stop! Stop! I've been stung!" ...

        ... to find a car space yet alone a space for us (and it is a pay car park!). We abandon the idea and set off. The route takes us along Silver Birch and Rowan tree lined roads and fields. We pass through several villages and usually most of the houses are brightly coloured, neat gardens and flower boxes but there are usually a few old grey houses often abandoned. In one village we saw the remains of a Mig fighter ...

        ... forests with just the odd clearing to be seen. After a another very hot day and shopping at Tesco we settled down to a lazy afternoon towards the end of which we decided to do a load of washing. Having taken an hour and a half we had just hung the stuff up (no dryer available) when a big storm assaulted us. Hail, the works. So, what else to do but get the cossie on and clean down Le Van who now looks a lot more presentable.
