Had a private triple bedroom and bathroom for 2 nights. Location - excellent. Very close to train station, across road from internet cafe. (Though free wifi (but not computers) provided.) Lovely spacious room which was bright and prettily decorated with stencils on the wall. Wardrobe, hangers, 1 double, bedside table either side of it, 1 single, 1 chair each.) Beds extremely comfortable, soft downy pillows. Information guides etc. upstairs on table, same floor as reception (not open at night). Shower was lovely.
No kitchen but vending machines (non-operatable at night to reduce noise :) ). Tried a hot choc. - perfect. Owner very genuinely friendly and helpful. Apart from the one downfall of not having a kitchen, which I have since realised from my trip, isn't standard for hostels in Europe, I literally couldn't fault it. Excellent and completely recommendable.

Perustasoa oleva hostellitason majapaikka, 3 eurolla saat oman wc:n ja suihkun. Siisti ja rauhallinen. Mukava omistajaperhe.

We made our connection (hurray!) and boarded the Rail Jet. We had barely pulled out of the station when an attendant came through the cabin and gave us complimentary Kit Kat bars. I guess it is good to be in first class, eh? ;)

The train does not have many stops, and occasionally gets up to 100 miles per hour. Of course, the screen shows …

Another day of travel took us through Salzburg on our way to Innsbruck. We toured the gardens and walked over the bridge to the old city. I'm sure you've seen locks on a bridge or fence before, but if you look at the pictures, this bridge was really neat. All the locks had the names of the lovers who then throw the key in the river. The local tour guide Gabby noted that some were combo locks... Just in case. We then walked through the old city, ...

... fairly early to make our way to Salzburg where a lot of "the sound of music" scenes were shot and just to punish all the men on the bus Aaron played the movie. Salzburg is a lovely little town where we had a few free hours to wander around and get acquainted with it. The horse and cart rides are very popular here in Austria and there were plenty of them around Salzburg. Also it's not unusual to see the locals in their traditional ...

This morning we drove to Austria. We started the day with White water rafting in the Inn river in Innsbrook. The water was freezing but we had wet suits and it it was worth it. Amazing views. We had some of the local cuisine: goulash soup and schnitzel. They speak German. Off to ...

... Maximilian, who died in 1519. There is an enormous sarcophagus in the centre of the church, and then lined up an down alongside this are statues of anyone who was considered by Maximilian to have been an important forbear (including King Arthur)plus selected other relatives.

We were then able to go back to the hotel and get access to our room, which seems good – a decent size and reasonably equipped bathroom, ...
