First stop was the capital of French Polynesia, Papette on the island of Tahiti.

A lush, tropical volcanic island, with few and small beaches. The city is clean and compact typical of most French overseas 'outposts'.

One interesting highlight was the evening open-air restaurants that are set-up in the Car Park on the waterfront .. just felt the old days in Singapore.

... figure out how to tip in the local currency. After passing the bill around the table and no one understood they said to the waitress "We just wrote the tip in 'Murican dollars. Y'all can figure it out right". HOW DID YOU GET SO RICH??? I'd be willing to bet a small fortune that your "bus driver" pilot can figure out 10 or 15 percent of any number you throw at him. ... the dingy and headed up a river. A local man by the name of James met us and gave us a tour of where he and his family lived and his neighbors plantation. We learned about every tree, fruit, flower these islands have to offer.
