There are also variations, Tim was partial to an apple strudel with Jack Daniels double shot. Mulled wine, called "Gluhwein" is also available, but I prefer the punsch.

We followed the Austrian tradition of Christmas trees a little more closely this year, not putting it up until just a couple days before the big day and leaving it up ...

We started our day with a delicious breakfast (photos) in our hotel. It was really nice with beautiful bacon, eggs, mushrooms, Danishes, fruit, yoghurt and cereals. When we were checking out the guy asked me one question "did you have anything in the mini bar?" I said "no". Second town Holubov we couldn’t find one either, but we found a pool in the centre of town (a pond actually) with diving board, slide, but no shops. Really hungry now and went searching as a town this size must have a shop!. Nothing. Weird. Then we saw ...

Today we wandered around the Jewish quarter of Praha for a while, taking a bit more time to soak up what we saw the day before on our first day tour with Harriet. Steve then parted ways with Mandy and headed off to find the Military Museum, looking for a pink tank.

In 1991, when Steve was here last, a local artist called David Cerny had rebelliously painted a Soviet T34 tank bright pink, as a stark reminder to military commanders globally ...

... little quirky and nothing like we have previously stayed in. Everyone was commenting that they had single beds, small rooms etc. We sort of figured it is what it is and it's clean and right in the centre of the old town with magnificent views but we decided to tell the others that we had an amazing room, with a king bed, corner spa bath etc. By the end of the night we had the others in our group convinced that we had scored an awesome room - naughty but funny. We eventually fessed ...
