... bay. We spent several nights socialising with them over evening drinks and exchanged sailing stories. They had also travelled the long journey from Panama and were heading home to Opua. One evening we had a fabulous night at the hotel in the bay after the owner invited all the yachties over to enjoy their Tahitian show put on by the locals. It was really excellent entertainment!

... layover experience. Time to board for Honolulu. OK they called our row number. Time to show boarding pass and passport. Passport - no problem. Boarding pass - RED LIGHT AND BUZZER ALARMS. Dude comes over and pulls us out of line and takes our tickets and passports and tells us to wait. All other passengers go past and board plane. ALL other passengers. We wait for 10-15 minutes expecting them to roll the staircase away. ...

... the downpour continuing we were forced to enjoy a very relaxing final full day of vacation. This amounted to watching movies, reading, napping, and hardly lifting a finger. All of this in our "hut" with all the doors and window open enjoying the tropical rains. All of the TV channels are in French. ... BY CIRCLING FEEDING SHARKS! It was pretty intense. Mixed in with the sharks were huge stingrays that swam right up to you. We took our time watching and swimming amongst the sharks and rays. Then back on the boat. Next stop - The Coral Gardens. This place was beautiful. 25 foot deep crystal clear water with coral reaching to within inches of the surface. ... cool contrast of colors from the dark blue deep ocean to the multi-light blue shades in the lagoon. Stumbled upon a coconut man who was harvesting coconuts from the trees. He offered us a fresh coconut and then proceeded shucking and cracking it for us. Fresh coconut water and meat. What a treat.
