... environments on the grand scale that was once the privilege of only the very powerful can have social and environmental benefits that last far into the future.

You may go to Chitwan or Bardia simply to ride an elephant and see a rhino. But you'll return with an appreciation for the parks' sheer sub-tropical richness -- the sounds of the forest birds and insects, the powerful girth of the hardwood trees, the rampant vines ...

... same thing. Everyone had different reasons for being here, but regardless, we all have the same attitudes and values. At that moment, I was one of them. After the dinner, we wanted to keep the party going as it was the last night we'd all be together. I have no idea how this happened, but we stumbled into this private party with only Nepali people. They got so excited we crashed their party, they gave s a private tent ...

Pre-trek preparations in Kathmandu.

... to eventually find our bus, realiseing that we were on the back seat of a bus designed for Dwarfs, my lanky legs were not going to like this. With my knees tucked around my ears we settled in for a 14 hour journey. the us stopped several times and we found ourselves eating Daal Bhat at a rather grubby roadside restaurant chosen by the bus company! The food was yummy actually and there were no repercussions luckily. Our ...

... trip wasnt the most appealing thing to me. The one thing that kept catching my asian eyes was "THE BUNGY JUMP" Its the 2nd highest bungee jump in the world at 160 meters. It is only a little shorter than the one in new zealand but u are jumping into a gorge above the bhoti koshi river. Often known as the greatest jump in the world.
I felt bad bc matt didnt really want to do the jumping thing but i couldnt pass this up i ran back to the travel place cancelled ...

3 days in Kathmandu

... they were taken away and cooked. But they tasted amazing as they had been cooked with carrot and chopped omelette on the top and some kind of spicy soup. Trust me it really was delicious and way better than McDonalds. I tried to make this comparison with Krishna but it was a wasted effort as he had no idea what McDonalds was!

There was the usual come down as we arrived back into the noisy, dusty crowded place that is Kathmandu, but we went and had a quiet beer which helped.

... regular price. I stayed at the Student Guest House the first night as I got in after dark and had to find something. It was good but it has no windows so I left the next day. I really like light.

Now I'm at the not so cheap but very bright and comfortable Tibetan Guest House until Monday morning when I go off to Chitwan. I don't like paying $9 a night for a hotel room but really, that is not that expensive. I'm just used to prices outside of Thamel.

... our Nepalese visa with Dollars and not pounds like we'd thought and got royally ripped off by a money changer - always nice! So off we trotted across the border and then had to process a visa - another of our favourite travelling related tasks. But thanks to Nazeen he'd headed over to find out about buses to Kathmandu - I'd just like to take a minute to remember what it feels like to be somewhere when you are about to go to somewhere you've always dreamed of - an awesome feeling ...

Stone stairway to heaven

... forests where the trees became bearded with loose green moss. It was about an eight hundred meter climb and no easy deal for Michelle, who had started the day in bright spirits but was now again under a cloud of gloom. As I should have mentioned earlier, our progress was being continually impeded by trains of donkeys that crowded down the trails and were laden with large amounts of cargo. Generally one would hear a distant clanging noise and within a minute or two the first ...
