... minimised (by avoiding the dodgy areas) so you hardly notice any difference. Its important not to let the media form an impression of a place without seeing it for yourself.
I probably prefer living in the Western Cape as the lifestyle here is more laid back, but there are far more job opportunities with higher pay in Pretoria and Johannesburg, so it really depends what you are after. I would recommend anyone to check out either place as overall my trip was really enjoyable.
