... in glentana in an awesome house, right on the beach. Unbelievable! It could not be any better, even if we tried!!!, Blessed out of our socks We see ,hear, see the sea. Been for long walks along the beach! I need to pinch myself to make sure it's not a dream. This is soooooo amazing, what an awesome way to celebrate your 50 th birthday ...

... around the circular walk which was only a couple of km but it was rather dark due to the rain and I got eaten alive by the mosquitoes. It was lovely forest though - plenty of mature native trees, and we saw a whole party of Green Wood Hoopoes, big black woodland birds with curled red bills reminiscent of choughs. ... us a fantastic welcome.  We joined a full minibus of the other (all female as we’d predicted) volunteers who were really friendly and had been on a shopping outing in between the various pick ups and drop offs.  Our new friends were mainly Dutch girls, a couple of Germans and a South African girl. ... Calitzdorp does!!! The Groot Swartzberge are fantastic hills... amazing colours and shapes! Get to Oudtshoorn by 2pm and check onto The gorgeous old farm house Rosenhof. drive north to the Cango Caves which are cool, large and varietal! drinks in the lounge wit log fire and red wine... quite nice. ... had been a huge demand for Ostrich feathers which was the main reason so many farms were set up. They also sold the ostrich meat too and made various products from the leather. The ratio was 80% feather sales and 20% meat and leather products. Today the ratios are reversed and they make most of their money from selling the meat….
