... lots of lovely little villages and some impressive castles. Back on the coach and on to Heildeberg. Heidleberg was chocolate box pretty the village reminded us of a model train set. Bern took us for an orientation tour around the village and told us some history of the huge castle that overlooks the city. Of course Germans travel by car or by plane, which has radically changed since the 1950s when most people travelled by train. Back then Austria and Italy were big travel destinations and Germans liked trying the exotic foods like pizza and pasta or eating broccoli and zucchini! It's hard to imagine that these types of foods were once foreign because we have a very international selection of restaurants these days.

... I spot a huge crowd at one of the stalls. It's the Original Grill House. A place where German sausages are cooked over wood fire and coal. We decide on this, not only because the meal looked appetising but that the heat generated from the wood was helping us with the 1 degree weather. Paula and I halve a Spicywurst and Rundswurst each.
