... been ignored or dismissed by only a few taxi drivers we found one willing to use the meter and take us there for a very reasonable price.

At the bus station, the tickets were the exact price I expected, the bus schedule was correct and the bus left on time, though not before everyone stood up to listen to what I assume was the Thai national anthem, which sounded through the bus station at exactly 8am.

... We give in and get up. This place has been 'boutiqued' - the dark teak floors, walls and ceilings all painted in ice cream colours and our en suite is all polished concrete with lovely touches like huge nut cases holding cotton wool balls and gingham embroidered chicken cases holding the tissues. There is no glass in the windows just shutters to close.
Breakfast is outside, beside the river, and beautifully presented complete with a bowl of miniature satsumas and tiny rice ...

... like a Sunday Morning at Blackbush. Such a different selection of food on display including grasshoppers, worms and beetles. Are we on I'm a Celebrity get me out of here ? Didn't have the nerve to try any. Back that evening and have good evening in the local street market. Next day Sunday, all shops shut. So mooch around, read and generally relax.
