... excavated area known as the Forum to view the historical monuments there. Next on our walking tour was the incredible Coliseum. What an amazing feat of engineering it was for its time. It was just a great feeling walking around the inside of what remains of the building and imagining what it might have been like in Roman times to attend an event such as gladiators battling each other to the death or battling against wild ...

The owner was taken aback when I enquired whether he had Mozzarella cheese with the tomato on the menu. Not here sunshine. After that it was home to bed for an early start the next day. Next stop would be ...

... is open to the public. There are 599 steps to the top, which Stewart counted the next day when we both descended from the top.

After that we wandered around the center of town. We visited various grand Piazzas, walking past smart shops and restaurants. We then found a supermarket where we bought some supplies.

After quite a lot of walking, we headed back to the apartment for showers, to do the laundry and check our email. ...
