Went into centre of Modena today. Surprised by relaxed atmosphere and old buildings. Part of of must visit cities of Northern Italy inspired by watching too many tv chefs. Think this was two fat grumpy Italian chiefs or similar title. Anyway been to bologna and Palma so thought it time to visit Modena. Never looks inspiring from autostrada in fact looks a real dump. Drove to Modena along autostrada. Huge numbers of huge trucks. Truck decides to overtake another truck going half a mile an hour slower than it. This then causes loads of macho men in small inadequate puntos to slow down and bunch up. Yesterday we collected our second hire car; the lady at Hertz assured me it was a good car - Fiat 500L. Well after driving it for a day I can see the significance of the 500; I reckon it is the size of the motor as it is not that powerful, however we have been trekking through some pretty steep and high hills.
