Oriental Guest House Leh

I was on time at the bridge where the bus was supposed to pick me, but some time later a taxi came to pick me instead. They told me I'm late for 30 minutes. Probably a misunderstanding. A minibus was half empty, and they proposed me to sit at the font seat, which I refused, preferring the bench at the rear - so I can sleep laying, I thought.

I took my time to rest, and didn't get up almost till noon. Now when I look at the windows I realize what a beautiful view is outside! The weather is very nice as well - it's sunny and really warm. Having breakfast at the sun was a pure pleasure. I can't get rid of the flashbacks from the traumatic yesterdays' road, and feeling a really strong denial to think about the future way back to Manali. 
After the breakfast I started to feel much better and moved to a cheaper room (₨200) ...

I've read all about Leh in LP and now had a plan. There was a walking tour around the old city in the morning. Then i wanted to visit the palace and the fort - these are the highest points in the town. 
Unfortunately the walking tour was canceled, but at least I had a plan for further actions. A funny Japanese guy, called Hide, joined me. He's a musician and plays sitar, he was coming for India for more then 10 times, every half hear or so for music studying. But he never had a chance t...

I need to wait for a group (and altitude acclimatization) to go to Nubra valley, so for now I need some day trip. All the points of interest in LP are some 20 km around, but taking a bus will take me a week, so I decide to take a Vespa - it's just a scooter after all. 
Well, yes it's a scooter, but it has a gear to switch. The folks at the shop are very enthusiastic to rent me one, but I just can't learn to start the motion - it's like in the car one has to get the used to that clutch. ...

In the morning I still felt very sick, took a Neurophen and fallen asleep till noon. Probably it was a dehydration along with the fact I didn't eat yesterday. So I made an effort to walk to the nearest coffee. Gradually I returned to myself, and walked to the city. 
I asked for any options to Nubra Valley, but there were no any. It doesn't seem good, along with the clouds that stated to appear in the skies. So probably I'll take a bike for another ride tomorrow, and then will see if the...

I'm feeling all right, even despite I didn't sleep much - was too busy with the face detecting on Picasa. 
The weather doesn't seem too good - the clouds are all over the skies... It seems like there is no Nubra for me :( 
Can't waste the weekend - so going for a trek tomorrow, a short one, so I'll be able to be back by Monday to ask for a permit to Nubra

I slept very well - no alt-effects. The day seemed to be lovely, but it was quite cold - I think it was around 10C in the room. Padma brought me some chapati with gem & butter and proposed to prepare me some for take-out - reminds me a mom or something! I refused and prepared my one chapati-butter-gem burritos wrapped in aluminum paper. LP said I had some seven hours to make it to Stok, so leaving at eight I was targeting the bus of 15:00. They said it will be 2 hours to get to the Stok L...

Still feeling my legs because of that trek, and being lazy :) 
The weather is good, but the clouds are covering Stok Kangri and other mountains, interesting how Fernando's doing up there... 
Eventually decided to take a bike to Nubra. 
Bought two 100% pashmina shawls - both gray and beautiful, ₨2900
The 500 cc is too heavy, taking the Vespa for 3 days instead.

The local military sleepy proved to be really good - it's made from "European geese". I was proposed some bread and chai for the breakfast. Then when I ask how much do I owe for the lodging, the kid translates his mother's answer: "pay happy money"! I liked the original answer and thought that 200 is the right sum. It seems like the mother agrees with me.

Öösel pea valutab. Joon korduvalt vett. Olen Himaalajaks nii hästi varustatud, et magamiskotis on suisa palav. Padi on ehitatud kuidagi liig kõrge. Viimased poolteist tundi veedan istuli, siis pea nii väga ei valuta. Kella nelja paiku hakkavad linnud laulma.
Viiest on ametlik äratus. Ilm on külm ja pilves. Pakime ennast kokku, liigutused on mõõdetult aeglased ja hingan pahinal nagu auruvedur. Saan telgi siiski oma jõududega kokku krutitud.
Paar kilomeetrit eemal on Sarchu, kuhu me eelmi...
