Bye Bye Thailand :(

Hey Guys,

Well we managed to hitch a free ride to the port with our posh hotel and the ferry was on time :) A first for Thailand we think :) The boat trip was about an hour and still no sea sickness(think the bands really do work). When we got off the ferry there was the usual taxis waiting to whisk you away to their resort. We got in a …

... inside.
We also took part in an escape the room game, a real-life version of those computer games where you have to find clues and solve puzzles to get out. We had 45 minutes to escape from 3 rooms in an 'art gallery', armed only with a flashlight, and steal the priceless painting. It was a lot more mathematical than the one we did in Wroclaw, based much more on cracking tough codes than searching for objects, and ...

... We eventually ditched him and went home. Sharing a room is fine until somebody starts snoring or grinding their teeth. Snoring is fine, you can make a noise and the person will stop but there was this guy who started grinding his teeth and he was dead to the world. It woke both of us up as it was so intense and loud! I went to turn the big light off (which he had also left on after stumbling to bed and trying to unplug all of our stuff) and banged ...

... levels afterwards. Firstly, peak hour hit, big time. Being on a bus in between stops and no idea where we are as time ticks away whilst we move at a Filipino walking pace in the traffic... Not good. Finally we managed to get off the bus and find a train station. Well, funnily enough, peak hour also effects trains. Three trains went past and we started getting a little worried, these trains were packed! Finally we managed to wedge ourselves onto ...

Day 61

We slept a long time this morning due to our very late arrival, but we did still manage to make it to breakfast as it went on until 10.30am. Breakfast was as much toast as you wanted with butter or jam and there was tea and coffee as well. It was a sort of DIY breakfast bit it meant you could eat as much as you wanted which is definitely a good thing! We decided to stay fairly local to the guesthouse today, although KL centre isn't actually that big so ...

Defo worth a stay at the nest, away the hustle of Chinatown. Nice and chilled like I nest would be I suppose. Squawk!

    Sanctuary in the city

As previous reviewers have commented the area where The Nest is, doesn't look the best. However it is in a perfect location if you can forgive the immediate area.
If you turn right you reach the main road where you can catch the free city bus. There's also a large shopping mall with a food court and cinema just a few minutes' walk away. The monorail station is very close too. If you turn left you will reach the food hawker's market.
The hotel itself is a peaceful sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the city. You take your shoes off when you arrive and it sets the tone for the rest of your stay.
We booked a superior double en-suite for 114 MYR a night (134 at the weekend) as we wanted a bit of space for our backpacks. The room was spotlessly clean and spacious. The air con was perfect. The bathroom was a little on the small side, but the shower was warm and powerful enough. Because of the size of the bathroom the toilet seat was always wet from the shower, but nothing major.
Breakfast was self service and consisted of cereal, toast, jam, bananas, tea and coffee. Juice would have been nice as my husband doesn't drink tea or coffee.
We would highly recommend The Nest, we felt that we got a great room for a good price in KL.

Small, great value guesthouse very close to the Bukit Buntang area (literally 3 mins walk). Safe, clean, fast free wi-fi, free breakfast, tour bookings, great staff and lovely air con. Well recommended.
