    ... used as a prison for the Roundheads, who when they won blew up the main curtain wall. On our way out of Middleham we passed a sign to a chocolate factory, so a quick diversion!     We're off camping! Ging Gang Goolie Goolie Goolie Watcha ging gang goo! Here we are again. Just planning our holiday to France. We haven't been camping for about 20 years. Then, the tents were pre erected and all equipment was supplied. Now we have bought all the stuff that we need. A tent, cooker, airbeds, table and chairs, electric cold box and lots of other bits that we might need. Our tent is of the two bedroom and living room variety and is dead easy to put up. All ...

    So today is the mad rush around "have I got everything ready?! day"!
    I knew trying to pack wouldn't be the easiest of tasks, but I hugely underestimated just what a challenge it would be! So much washing to do, and so many compartments still to be discovered in this monster of a rucksack which will literally be my life for the next 5 weeks...!
    I cannot wait to be completely packed and ready to go now!

    ... this was obviously a hub for RAF squadrons. We visited Petwood (an early 20th century Tudor reproduction), now a hotel, which housed the 'Dambuster' officers in the war. There is lots of memorabilia, including a tree over the bar which apparently was collected by a low flying aircraft which didn't quite clear the trees and had to fly with the tree branch in situ in the fuselage!
