What a waste of time Sihanoukville was, especially after all the effort I put in to getting there. As soon as I set foot in the place I knew I wouldn't be there long. Less than 24 hours as it turns. Saying that, every cloud has a silver lining and I ended up having a superb meal in a Cambodian karaoke restaurant. I'd stumbled upon it as I was trying to make my way away from the main tourist area. Once again I found myself being 'the only white guy'. I ordered shrimp in a spicey green pepper s...
Phnom Penh, Cambodia --frank--Tuk-tuk? Tuk-tuk mate? Tuk-tuk? Moto? Tuk-tuk? Tuk-tuk mate? Where you go mate, tuk-tuk? Moto? Tuk-tuk? Hey you! Tuk-tuk? Moto? Tuk-tuk? Tuk-tuk mate? Moto? Moto mate? Tuk-tuk? I kid you not, it's been like this all day. I must have been asked if I wanted a tuk-tuk well over a thousand times. Easily. There are so many of these things on the streets of Phnom Peng that it's not as if you're ever going to struggle to get one is it? Hey you! Tuk-tuk? No thanks mate, when I need one there'll be on...
Phnom Penh, Cambodia --frank--It's been a quiet day. I hopped on the back of a moto this morning and made the 17km drive to the Killing Fields. Other than the monument made from skulls of the dead there wasn't really a lot to see. It was a beautiful day though, so I though I'd spend the afternoon chilling in the sun. By the time I'd made it back to the guesthouse the heavens had opened once again and it rained constantly for the rest of the day. I lay on my bed listening to some music, fell asleep, and woke up 4 hours lat...
Phnom Penh, Cambodia --frank--After a few more days of serious biking around the Ankor site, I changed to the garden village hostel in Siam Reap. This place was so relaxed. A bit of a hike up stairs to my room but one there it was worth it for the nothing sum of $3 USD. Garden Village had such a relaxed atmosphere compared to all of the hotels in which you usually wouldn't meet with the other guests accept for passing them in the reception area while coming or going. Free internet use and my own pad lock on the door meant...
Phnom Penh, Cambodia adaminglisThe bus ride was an easy 4 hours up to the capital a stark contrast from the peaceful beaches of the last few days. My initial impressions of Phnom Pehn weren't great but i think a second visit helped. You still have the noise and the hassle everywhere you go but we had time to stroll around and check out some sights and the river front this time which were good to see. The afternoon sights consisted of a couple of city musems and drinks and food on the banks of the Mekong - a truly impressiv...
Phnom Penh, Cambodia adam_and_kimWell hi everyone. I was going to wait a few more days before I emailed but I've just spoken to Mum and apparently Nana is waiting for one so thought I'd kill some time quickly whipping one up! By the way, I've arrived in Cambodia and have no mobile phone reception whatsoever-so for anyone who has text me and I haven't responded-I'm not being a snob! Let me start from the start- arrive Bangkok - city of Angels. My god- I loved it from the minute I got off the plane. Busy, mad city that it is ...

Phnom Penh, Cambodia ana.kHello! survived the bus trip to PP. Saw a bad motorbike accident on the way which made me really sad and grateful that I had a safe trip in Battambang. As soon as I arrived and checked in, I took off for the Laos Embassy to get my visa. Got asked every minute at least if I needed a moto or a Tuk Tuk. They seem to take it well if you just shake your head and smile. Glad that I did the visa first thing because it takes up to 48 hours to get. As it was Thursday when I applied, I could potentiall...
