... had TV, a small table and chairs, a balcony with 2 more chairs and small table, a closet and shelves, a nightstand and ample lighting. Believe me, you can't assume that a room in Asia will have anything more than a bed and a single ceiling light. A comfortable room is important for us in beach towns because we don't spend all day at the beach - too much sun. Typically, we have breakfast in our room (yogurt, local ...

    ... finally be seeing them.

Kish, Sima, Nikhita and Rahul arrived first with Kish’s parents (Baa and Gee), his Aunt (Mortiben) and cousin (Namish) arrived later on. Our first night was a happy and successful affair - we pummelled the owner of a bar and his friend at pool for a fair bit of money, winning every game until they called it quits. We left in jovial spirits, relieved not to have our hands chopped off by the Thai Mafia (more on the Thai Mafia later!). Later that evening ...

... bus journey followed by a two hour ferry was not nearly as bad as I thought it might be! Before we knew it we were at Mac's Bay Resort in Koh Phangan, complete with white sandy beach and palm trees! The resort was beautiful and the accommodation superb there too, even if we did have to share double beds. I have to confess that I'd been somewhat nervous about the week in Koh Phangan. Koh Phangan is renowned for its partying with full moon, half moon and black moon ...
