... carry us away as there were so many. We believed him as he was doing himself out of business as the way to get there is by boat and he charges a lot for that pleasure. He thinks that the Mayans knew enough to plant mosquito-attracting plants when they were forced to leave and now we are bitten in the interests of seeing their ruins :-)

Corozal is on a very calm bay and our hotel overlooked it so a very pretty view to enjoy. We went off for a stroll, ...

By the way, thank you to my brother, Todd, for letting me use his pack. It's been absolutely perfect. I kept the weight under 20 lbs, so I'm having NO trouble carrying it on planes, buses, and jungle river boats. And apparently it's waterproof, since our 12 person boat got swamped from a sudden downpour, and then a passing OCEANliner (practically) and it sat in a pool of water for an hour after that. It was funny. Onwards!
