We then crossed back into Thailand and gladly received our passports back. I think we all gave little sighs of relief at that point. We walked to a small part of Thailand very near the border where there was an arch marking the farthest north part of the country. Interesting fact: the town we were in had 12 temples, 1 mosque, and 1 church. You can see what the major religion is here.

We have all the diet coke, magnum ice cream bars and wine that we need in the 7-Eleven just down the street. Barry and I had all our laundry done for just $11.00 or 344 baht. There is even a pizza joint just around the corner.

We are tired after our day's work but it seems valuable and the staff are helpful, patient and fun to work with, so no complaints.

China and Burma in one week

Starting that first night when we descend to the very Chinese* Mae Salong Villa, a huge restaurant which serves mainly Yunnan specialties, like lovely Yunnan roasted pork with Chinese buns.
