... favourite, with the cathedral's plain ceiling covering a series of smaller shrines, including that of St Cuthbert. Back outside, we visited the Cathedral Library via the cloisters. A librarian (a Kiwi) gave us an impromptu chat about the 13th century building, which used to house the refectory and the dormitories. Went back through the cobble paved alleys of town. A York That´s Not New
... to continue on your way. I would have included synagogues, but these are few and far between, or are simply locked up during the day. Mosques are usually open, but they have few places to sit, so we avoid these as well. Our Holiday by the Sea
Left the caravan on Tuesday morning for the drive to Whitby. Weather pretty ordinary but an easy trip on good roads. The cottage we are in is just lovely, pictures will follow. Went into Whitby for a short drive then a night in front of the telly.

... we hurtled thought the Yorkshire Moors, For those that watched Heartbeat some time ago...this is where it was filmed. Today we went into York and walked around the shops,stopping for morning tea and lunch of course. I have been enjoying the Yorkshire food!! Yesterday we had this fruit cake for am tea served with great slabs of Wensleydale cheese,and the most amazing fish and chips for tea served ...

Day 151: We spent today exploring more of the old city, there are so many winding streets here that we think we saw most of it but no doubt missed at least a little bit. We had to find an area where Emma had to take a picture of her Birthday message for her cousin's 1st birthday, so we took the picture in front of the cathedral and posted it to her Aunties Facebook page and she loved it.
