... and soon I called in a night. A good night's sleep for me was not copied by my travel companion who decided it was prudent to pull an all-nighter with the guesthouse-owner's wife! Apparently he goes down in history as the first palange to do so, ever. There was even talk of a medal. Despite the rumours, it seemed they fixed the plane and we find ourselves killing time in Nuku'alofa again. Photos will come when we reach the 1st world (or NZ).

... their sons/daughters have money placed on them to avoid any family shame. It reminded me of a strip-club in a way, but the locals insisted it is culture. :-) On wednesday, we will continue our journey to New Zealand and will meet up with 2 people we met in Samoa. \after a couple of days of traveling with them, we will try to tour the north island than take a flight to the south island. We have a car rented and are planning on extending our stay there for 1-2 more weeks.

Tongan visiitti ei ole alkanut oikein lupaavasti. Ennen passintarkastusta Aucklandissa tapahtui se, mita olemme pelanneet koko ajan: kasimatkatavarat punnittiin. Koska minulla oli repussani kuusi kiloa ylipainoa, vaihtoehtona oli joko heittaa tavaraa roskiin tai menna takaisiin check-iniin ja laittaa reppu ruumaan. Ruumaan menneet laukut olivat painaneet jo yhteensa 41 kiloa, joten pelkasimme tuntuvia lisamaksuja. Heitimme joitain papereita pois, lastasimme seitseman kiloa tavaraa ...

... the east coast of the island and explored the 'staircase to nowhere' and the incredible hidden Hina Cave where we sheltered from the downpour of rain. Ryan and John shook trees to get ripe coconuts to fall and then split them open using their machetes. On the way home the three of us girls dried off and tucked into a coconut each. They asked us in to their house for a hot shower (which can never be underrated!) and even stretched their generosity to us ...

... same world. i havent been to very many out of the way countries but this was the first one that did not have a mac donalds in it. it was the most untouched full of culture place. It was also beautiful and so lush and green. The people are so friendly children running up to you singing to you just amazing. you can go out into the ocean and look back in and see ...

... Toinen veneessä olleista äijistä kertoi, että on tulossa Itävaltaan parin kuukauden päästä johonkin kouluvaihtohommaan ja oli hyvin innoissaan asiasta. Koitin kertoa, että Itävallassa on isoja vuoria ja kaikkea, mutta en tiedä tajusiko ollenkaan, mistä puhun :-) Takaisinpäin Uolevalta kohti Lifukan laituria puksutellessa alkoi todella mustia pilviä kerääntymään taivaalle ja tuulikin alkoi yltymään uhkaavasti.
